Assembly Testing Equipment is machinery built specifically to validate or confirm functionality of a part or an assembly. Custom inspection and testing equipment use off-the-shelf calibrated devices to complete testing, and are built to complete multiple tests in one cohesively designed inspection process. This allows part function to be fully confirmed in one spot, and for the process data to be collected in one operation to minimize the overall amount of inspection data collection and processing required for tracking the process.

Commonly used applications for Assembly Testing Equipment include below:

  1. Pressure & Leak Testing. Used to confirm parts & assemblies are properly sealed to prevent leakage of air or fluid. Typically have to be designed to a specific part type to work properly. Includes pressure decay, pressure leak test gain, vacuum leak testing, mass flow, hydraulic & hydrostatic leak testing, and others.
  2. End of Line Testing. Used to confirm an overall assembly meets all of a customer’s specifications ahead of shipment to the customer. It is the final process before packaging for shipment. Typically checks all electrical & functional callouts per the assembly drawing.
  3. Part Mechanical or Electrical Function Testing. Used to confirm assemblies are properly assembled and function as inspected. Typically designed to inspect multiple aspects of an assembly ahead of further processing.
  4. Weld Integrity Testing. Used to confirm assemblies are properly welded ahead of shipment. Welds can be tested mechanically using destructive means, or by using non-destructive testing with techniques including ultrasonic inspection.
  5. Torque Testing. Used to confirm proper torque ranges were achieved on the fasteners on a part. Functionality is often integrated in with the assembly machine or robotic process used to complete the torquing assembly process
